Gamil works with Raleigh Convention Center to launch Maximus Circus at Raleigh Wide Open
Raleigh Wide Open 5 is one of downtown Raleigh’s biggest events, and this year they are digging even further into local flavor, including a homegrown performance act called Maximus Circus. The event is produced by Raleigh’s own Gamil Design, a creative firm that has worked deeply with the creative community to launch SPARKcon, Designbox, and several city-wide workshops.
Gamil has partnered with AcroEntertainment’s Kaci Torres and Katie Magee to coordinate a wide variety of local stunt artists. Both groups worked together in SPARKcon.
“There is a huge community of circus performers in the Triangle. We’ve been traveling through the region and have been really amazed by the size and talent of this underground movement,” says Torres. “It’s fantastic that we’ll be able to give them a stage to perform at Maximus!”
Maximus Circus will incorporate more than a 14 local performing acts, and draw from a large creative community of supporting designers and professionals to put the program together. On July 31st, their event will include a procession to their Main Ring in Fayetteville Street’s City Plaza. Afterwards, there will be two sets of acts with live music and roving performers. The second act will take advantage of the evening and dazzle the audience with fire and light performers. All of this will lead up to the fireworks at 11 pm.
“We couldn’t be more excited,” says Gamil’s Director, Aly Khalifa. “Not only do we get to show off little-known first-class local acts, but we really get to push our own limits on technologies, branding, costumes, and viral outreach to pull together a wonderfully creative community.”
